Sacraments

The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments (CCC 1113).Baptismal Font

While we believe that human life is infused with the sacramental goodness of God, the Catholic Church has defined seven sacraments – instituted by and through the life of Jesus Christ. It is through the experience of the sacramental ritual that we are infused with God’s grace. The sacraments nourish and strengthen us as they express and build up our faith.

Baptism:  Parents are required to participate in the Baptismal Preparation Program.
Confession:  Reconciliation takes place on Saturdays from 4:00pm to 4:45pm at St. Monica Church and from 3:00pm to 3:45pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Marriages:  Arrangements must be made six months in advance.
Anointing of the Sick:  This sacrament is for those who are elderly, seriously sick, or scheduled for major surgery. Please call the rectory to arrange for a home or hospital visit from one of our priests. (On the first Tuesday of every month, the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will be administered after the 8:30am Mass at St. Monica Church. On the last Friday of every month, the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick will be administered after the 8:30am Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church )

For more information about sacramental formation, please call the rectory at (415) 751-5275.
